meet the owner

My name is John Nicholson, but everyone calls me "Nick."  I am a fourth generation carpenter, who grew up in my parents custom furniture shop, in Clarksville Missouri. Being present in the family business since before I could even walk, has given me a lifetime of knowledge and experience.  Not only did I learn the various skills involved in this trade, but I was also taught by the example of my parent's, how to interact with and satisfy customers.

After leaving my parent's shop to branch out on my own, I quickly established myself in my hometown. Clarksville is a small, slow, and quiet town that is settled on the banks of the Mississippi.  Due to the proximity of the river, Clarksville is prone to annual flooding...and that is pretty much how my career began.  Flood damaged homes needed repairing and the historical downtown area always needed to be preserved through restoration.

Several years later I moved to Saint James Missouri, and now work mainly in the Rolla/Saint James area. However, I am willing to travel and have worked all over the state of Missouri. Several of my repeat clients are out of town:  Eureka, Belle, Clarksville, Saint Peters, Saint Charles, Branson. Since leaving my parent's shop, I have worked for myself for over 15 years now.

My skills are:  custom woodwork and furniture, hisotical restoration, framing, drywall, painting, wood flooring, tile work, trim work, and basic plumbing and electric (see the "services" section for more details). However my most important skills are:  honesty, integrity, reliability, and creativity.

I'm a social person who loves meeting new people and chatting about their ideas.  Whether they want something specific, or want me to come up with ideas for them...I always love a good challenge!
